"POP" Warhol Champaign

Andy Warhol had a thought (in actual fact, he had more than just one) and he wasn’t afraid to convey it. Before Damien Hirst and Jeff Koons came along, there was none other than the great and late Andy Warhol. His silkscreen images of Marilyn Monroe and Campbell Soup Cans are one of the most pervasive art images around. As a fan of Warhol myself, I have been seeing alot of tributes by different products lately, I will posting them later on...

One of Warhol’s favorite stories about Dom Pérignon was when he and his friends founded the “2,000″ club– a group of 20 people coming together to purchase 2,000 bottles of Dom Pérignon and will be drinking them together to celebrate the millennium. For them, the running joke was who would be around to drink it, but sadly, Warhol wasn’t there to celebrate the millennium by popping a copious amount of champagne.

As a tribute to one of the most influential artists and cultural figure, Dom Pérignon has teamed up with the Andy Warhol Foundation and enlisted the help of the Design Laboratory at Central St. Martin’s School of Art and Design to reinterpret the timeless Dom Pérignon bottle. The collection of bottles will be vintage 2002 Dom Pérignon champagne, and will come in three colors– red, blue and yellow. The collection is limited in run, and will be available for the public starting October 15 at fine purveyors across the nation.

Enjoy a video created for this collaborative collection, and remember, while Warhol does champion that art can be replicated, this may be the only way that one can come as close to partying like Warhol.

Madonna Vs Cassius- Toop Toop Groove

My favorite Madonna song "Get into the Groove" mashed up with another song i love Cassius "Toop Toop".
Madonna actually used this remix in her Sticky & Sweet Tour last year.
This is her stage backdrop, its got the infamous Keith Haring characters animated to the beat.
Im a big fan of Keith Haring & his graffiti. Find more about his art here.

My Art Spree

Ok so i have been looking for some artwork to put up in my house for the last six months.
This is first painting i bought. I just fell in love with it right away. Its a caricature by "George Bahgory", he's an infamous Egyptian artist who has been living in Paris the past 35 years. Its a caricature of the Mona Lisa, & it graces my dining room wall. I have since become a big fan of his.
Find out more about G.Bahgory here.

Mondrian

Im one of those people who always buys postcards as souvenirs from my favorite gallery, artist, product or city. The last time i was at the Tate Modern, i saw this painting from their "Abstract & Concrete" display.
Its a Piet Mondrian, he's a Dutch artist. He made paintings like this around 1930.

He used only straight black horizontal and vertical lines and primary colours: red, blue and yellow painted on a white surface. I just loved it & bought a postcard with the print on it, its displayed in my kitchen:)

This certain print was made famous when Yves Saint Laurent made the “Mondrian” day dress in autumn 1965. Its just timeless.
