Latest Lust: McQ 2010 Resort Collection Dress

A dress I've been lusting for since i first saw it in January '10 by Alexander McQueen (RIP).
Its dreamy yet rock'n'roll, just how I like my dresses.
I love the black spider-web-like tattoo design on the collar & love the striking yellow beneath.
Seen on Drew & Helena.
Hes always been one of my fave designers, it really is a loss in the design world.

Richard Avedon

Richard Avedon (May 15, 1923 – October 1, 2004) was an American photographer. He was the American photographer. There is very little I can write here that can adequately explain how talented or influential Richard Avedon was. He was a photographer, yes, but what he did behind the camera was so much greater than that.

Richard saw in photography it’s ability to capture the soul and personality of its subjects. He was a master at being able to capture something tangible and real about his subjects, even if it was something the subjects weren’t necessarily willing to reveal. It was with these talents that he managed to give America an image, an identity; a reflection of society at its highest and lowest.

He was a true master of his craft.

I am a big fan of both his fashion & portrait work.

Here are some of my favorites...

B.B 1962

Marilyn Monroe as silent screen star Theda Bara. From Life Magazine's fabled, "Enchantress Series," 1958

Marilyn Monroe 1959

Bob Dylan, Central Park 1960

Audrey Hepburn 1967

Nadja Auermann 1995

Dovima in Dior & the elephants taken at the "Cirque d'hiver de Paris" in august 1955

The photograph of Dovima in the black dress with elephants was reprinted many times but the image of Dovima in white was printed only once and the negative no longer exists. “It disappeared mysteriously,” Avedon said

Nadja Auermann Versace 1994

Stephanie Seymour Dress and shoes by Chanel, Paris 1994

Never Give up, its such a Wonderful Life

Hurts are an English electronic duo from Manchester composed of singer Theo Hutchcraft and synthesiser Adam Anderson. I love this song & I love this video, it reminds me of those iconic early 90s Depeche Mode & Duran Duran videos.

YSL's Roady

Yves Saint Laurent has created the brand's iconic Roady bag in three special limited-edition colours exclusively for the UAE market.
Why UAE? I havent got a clue....

The bags will be available from September & come with a special silver plate inside which is enscribed with either Abu Dhabi or Dubai (depending on which store you buy it from) and its edition number.

So make sure you go and fetch one if you can *-*

Land of The Dam

So Ive just returned from my Holland- Czech trip, & it was overwhelming to say the least. Two extremely different cities, Amsterdam & Prague (or Praha).
Amsterdam is an very small city & like alot of european cities has a radial urban planning which simply means star-shaped radial streets extend outward from a center point which usually is a main square or monument. So that makes it hard to get lost.
Here's my list of must sees in Amsterdam:
1)The Van Gogh Museum
2)Rijksmuseum
3)The infamous Red Light District
4)The Coffee shops & actually one in particular "Dampkring" It's got extraordinary décor that makes Dampkring coffee shop stand out from the crowd, it was also used to shoot scenes from "Ocean's Twelve" & its also famous for its extensive "Menu".
5) Dont miss out on the amazing potatoes!!! yummmm
6)Nor the waffles!:)
7)AIR CLUB which was designed by one of my fave designers ever Marcel Wanders. Its design concept makes the clubbing experience sooo perfect & convenient for ppl like me who actually go to dance without a care.
8)FOAM Gallery for all the modern art suckers out there is a MUST. More on that in an upcoming post.

Here are some of my fave shots from Amsterdam.

Notice how the buildings are not straight
