Madonna Again Unedited

Some un-retouched photos leaked 2 days ago for the Winter 2011 Dolce&Gabbana womenswear campaign photoshoot by Steven Klein. Madonna plays a sexy Italian housewife.
Im not loving the campaign, it lacks inspiration & looks like something Ive seen before alot.
Loved the LV bunny eared campaign so much more.
Check out the veins on her hand & biceps that were totally retouched for the release.
Also check out the behind the scenes video.

Madonna Vs Cassius- Toop Toop Groove

My favorite Madonna song "Get into the Groove" mashed up with another song i love Cassius "Toop Toop".
Madonna actually used this remix in her Sticky & Sweet Tour last year.
This is her stage backdrop, its got the infamous Keith Haring characters animated to the beat.
Im a big fan of Keith Haring & his graffiti. Find more about his art here.
Enjoy...

RAW Madonna

I found these RAW (unphotoshopped images) of Fall 2009 Louis Vuitton ad campaign featuring Madonna, I just had to share them.
She really does look like she's in her 50s, yikes!
These unedited shots just show how much editing really took place.
The campaign was shot by iconic fashion photographer Steven Meisel.
All the images prominently feature the “bunny ears” and a handbag. I do love the bunny ears though!
For some reason I kinda like the treatment of the images, what’s your thoughts?

HORST 1906-1949

DISCLAIMER: I am not a writer, I am a photographer. Here we go!

Some of you may know me and some of you may not know of me. What most of you may not know, is that I have always had a strong connection to the past and a real love for modern history. That’s why this post will focus on one of my favourite photographers Horst P. Horst.

Horst Paul Albert Bohrmann was a German American photographer best known for his photographs of women and fashion taken while working for Vogue magazine. At the age of 26, Horst had become instantly famous. As a regular contributor to Vogue, his work was quickly noticed and recognized by top critiques in the United States. In 1937, he moved to New York City, and while residing there met Coco Chanel, whom Horst called “the queen of the whole thing”. He would photograph her fashions for three decades.

In 1943, after he joined the Army and received his United States citizenship, officially changing his name to Horst P. Horst.

Here are some of his famous work which are faves of mine....

Mainbocher corset, Paris 1939
(an iconic photo which some of you may remember this shot being copied in Madonna's VOGUE video-more on that later)

Lisa as V.O.G.U.E 1940

Helen Bennett, Spider Dress, 1939

Dali Costumes, 1939

On another note, Madonna ripped him off royally in the video for her hit single "Vogue". In addition to copying photography from Horst, Madonna co-sidedly embodied not one but several movie stars in the video. While it may be accusable to some extend: this connection between the photographer who shot for Vogue magazine as well as the song referencing several movie stars and the glamourous life style, it doesn't take the weight from her actions: she copied them directly without much (if any) interpretation and never once did she mention that her video was heavily influenced by Horst P.Horst photography. Well of course she didn't, that would have made her look unoriginal. Here are some original photographs by Horst, side by side with images from Madonna's video....
